Impossible Dreams Do Come True

February 27, 2018 0

While some of us still believe that impossible dreams do come true, countless others gave up this right. Over the years, various people tell us to be realistic. Even society says that we all have limits and reaching beyond these limitations is not possible. But I am firmly against that popular belief.

So, how can you overcome your limits? What is being realistic anyway? Can dreams become real?
The thing you must understand is that virtually everything and anything is possible for you to create. If you believe and take the time required to form the necessary skills, whatever you want, do come true. However, you must also collect the essential resources to bring you there.
But the most important elements for impossible dreams to come into existence are the belief in yourself and your abilities to learn. Your beliefs determine your actions which in turn determine your results. So, if you do not believe you can succeed, then you will not reach your visions. Quite simple!

Realistic and Unrealistic

And when people tell you to be realistic, ignore them. In this world, all progress depends on those being unrealistic. The only reference people with limits have is some event or person that achieved something in the past. Those limitations were impossible dreams years before, yet someone realized them.
However, could you imagine what would happen if everyone only tries to achieve what others have already accomplished? I believe the human race would still be at the Stone Age.
So, it is a fact that you and I, all of us are born to brilliance and that success is achievable by anyone. If you read their biographies, most successful people or greatest performers are self-made and not born with a gift. Therefore, the only problem for most people is that, for some reason, they do not believe in themselves enough or for their dreams to come true.

Impossible Dreams Are Possible

If history teaches us anything, it is that when people assumed things are not achievable, some others preserve the impossible dreams alive. Those are the ones who still dreamed, making things possible so that it may come true over time. These pioneers did not listen to anyone who told them to be realistic. If they did, the world today would still be living in caves.
So, regardless of whether society considers it unrealistic, it is the pioneers, the misfits, and the mavericks who make it happen. They are the ones who follow their heart, stand up for an idea and go after it. It is these brave men and women who persistently push the limits of what the world believes possible. As a result, they are the people who end up remembered in history.
"Dream the impossible because dreams do come true." - Elijah Wood

All Can Come True

Playing it safe will bring you nowhere; it is only out of fear and ignorance that people do. In some situations, it may be good to do so. But most successful people will also tell you that you have to take some uneasy risks at times.
And so you have to make a choice, with incontestable belief. You need to give your impossible dreams a 'go,' or things will never happen, or even come true. Sometimes you have to take uncalculated risks to have what you want. You need to see it in your mind and work it into your reality.
And yes, life is like the art of drawing without an eraser. But life has lessons that no one teaches you in school. Instead, the education system makes you learn history by memorizing dates or events but never the real lesson.

A Story about Impossible Dreams

In November 1989, I told my mother that I was leaving for an international competition in the USA, but that this time I will not come back. The day after, I left my mother and my grandparents behind me, not knowing what lay ahead. Waving as I went, I saw her cry for me for the first time.
As we landed on the tarmac in New York, I could see, from the window of the plane, the Twin towers standing out in downtown. The horse vaulting competition took place but right after, taking advantage of a window of opportunity, I defected.
Being from the Soviet Union, I did not know anyone in this new country, had no place to stay or even a job to rely on. I only had a city name on a piece of paper and fifty dollars hidden in my pocket. And I did not even speak English. Impossible dreams you say. Yet I felt my gut tell me: hunt your dream!

Taking the Risk

And yes, I guess I was taking a high risk to make things come true, but I had nothing to lose. Instead, I had maybe a lot to gain. I soon took a bus to Atlanta, Georgia, then another one going south of the country. We were a Sunday, 5.30 in the morning, when I arrived at the little Greyhound station in Camden, South Carolina.
Outside in the cold, I said to myself "What should I do now?" So I decided to walk down the long street I was on called 'Fair Street.' As I was looking at the houses, my eyes flashed on a big white one, with two columns in front of it.
I felt my intuition telling me "Maybe you should knock at the door and ask for help." So after a minute of hesitation, following my feelings, I mustered my courage, went to the door and knocked. A girl wearing jeans came down the stairs. I could see her through the small glass windows of the front door where I was standing.

When Things Come True

She did not open the door right away but just asked me what I wanted. I could not speak English, so I got my Russian-English dictionary to find the words I desired to express. After a few minutes, I finally succeeded to make her understand that I wanted a job and a place to live. She seemed not surprised at my request.
Afterwards, the door opened, she let me in the hallway with my suitcase and asked me if I had different clothes to put on. But I could not understand her, so she opened my bag to find a pair of jeans. And when she saw them, she gave them to me saying that I had to wear them.
After changing my clothes, she told me to follow her. She asked me the line of work I was in. I said to her that I worked with horses and was a rider. Her face lit and explained to me that she was a horse farm manager. Suddenly, it all made sense. Impossible dreams do come true! I was at the right place at the right time.

A Life Changing Opportunity

We got in her car and during the ride to the horse farm where she worked; she tried to speak to me but without real success. Finally we arrived at a horse farm called "Sandy Dubose Farm." It was a very big and beautiful place where horses grew for horse racing.
My new friend named Mary Smith told me to wait. Then she left to talk to the owner to see if she could get me a job. She came back after fifteen minutes later, announcing to me that I was hired as an exercise boy, a morning jockey if you will. My work was to ride and train horses each morning.
The Horse farm owner loved European horse riders and was glad to have me on her team. My impossible dreams had led me to a life-changing opportunity. Yet, there was more to come. Mary told me that after work, we would look for a place to live, and she had a good idea of where.

Impossible Dreams Do Come True

The house where Mary was living in on Fair Street divided into four apartments. She lived on the second floor but there was no room for me as it was too small. But that across the hall from her lived another girl, Bridget. And as she had a two bedrooms apartment, she maybe needed a roommate to share the rent with her.
So we finished my first day at work, the horses being cleaned and fed, we went to another horse farm. It was where the other girl worked. We found her riding. Bridget was a pretty blonde with green eyes. After telling her my story, Mary asked her if she was interested in having a roommate, and she agreed.
And that is how, in a few hours' time, I got a job and a place to live in the United States. So never give up on your dreams because impossible dreams do come true if you want them hard enough.

You Can Do Anything

People often forget that life gives them countless of possibilities and choices. They are too busy in their day-to-day routine that they lose sight of what they can do if they put their minds to it. Understand that a vegetable seed has no other choice than to become a vegetable. Its fate is locked into that one reality. But you have infinite potential at your disposal. You can do anything you want.
 Think any thought you desire.
Change careers.
Learn any language.
Travel to any country.
Learn any craft or skill.
Start any business.
Begin any project.
So, do not be afraid to have impossible dreams others think are unimaginable. Start working towards them. Be crazy in your dreams. Plan when you can. But remember that you have to take risks when you can't. To discover your true limits and what can come true, you do need to challenge your own beliefs about what is real or not.

Follow Your Dreams - Don't Delay

February 21, 2018 0

Most of us have had dreams for our future, dreams are what gives life-blood to our desires; but how many or us let them dwindle away without fulfilling them?
You may be saying- I'm too busy right now, or I'm to young, too old or too tired, or every other excuse you can think of. You may be feeling too tired or despondent because your life has become dull. It's time to change. Usually we only change direction when something causes us to re-evaluate our lives.
Why are most of us such self-doubters, disbelieving our abilities or doubting our courage.
Hold on to those dreams, don't let them escape, they can fill your days with delight, strengthen your resolve and develop you as a person. They can force you to learn new things and stretch you to limits you didn't know existed.
They will give you frustrating moments, as you strive to accomplish your goals, but also untold satisfaction if you just step out of your comfort zone and experience true living. Don't accept second best just because its easy, strive for what you believe in. Be passionate about your aims. Just do it!
You might be in a boring job, or wishing you could change your career, wishing you could travel the world, or learn to play music or paint. Whatever your dream find a way to pursue it, incorporate it into your life, see what is possible and make plans to include it.
Anthony Robbins suggests the reason people are depressed is because their dream lifestyle, or life plan and reality are poles apart. Try and bring yours closer for a happier future, Maybe you have to re-consider your lifestyle, is it really what you want how can you improve it.
People who live their dreams and fill their days with work they enjoy, don't consider it work, think of actors, sports people, artists, and many others. Believe in yourself and pursue your dreams. Freedom to follow your own path is a desire that many would like to tread. Freedom to make decisions and follow them through.
What would you like to do that you are not doing, search your soul for your true delight. Would you travel, change your career, look for a new job, take up a new sport or hobby. Spice up your life.
Maybe you need extra cash to take the plunge or maybe it is a desire to set up a business or invent something. If you make a plan it may be possible to incorporate it into your life without hurting your loved ones. Talk it through and see what is possible, you may find much of your dream is can be achieved.

Control the Mind

Your mind is not designed to get results. It is just neutral energy which works in the direction that you want it to.
For example, if you channelize positive energy your mind makes everything else work and when you lose control of your thoughts, it blocks your progress.
It is interesting to note that positive thinking needs efforts; however, negative thinking comes in uninvited and spoils the hygiene of your mind. Both positive and negative thoughts try to beat each other on a daily basis, and the winner determines your state-of-being in this world.
Thoughts determine actions and therefore it is vital to know what is controlling the mind. In most cases, it is negative thoughts.
A negative mind makes you feel like a victim of life. It fills you with fear, anger, and jealousy making you a bitter person. You will think life people as unfair and become rude or diffident. You make the subconscious mind work in the reverse order and fill your mind like 'I can't do it,' or 'I don't like my job,' or 'no one loves me,'and eventually, you make life look difficult and challenging.
On the other hand, the positive mind is always seeking success. It is ready for self-improvement. It believes in creating a world of possibilities for self and others.
It is filled with trust, happiness, and understanding. The mind is full of positive thoughts like, 'I choose to 'succeed,' / I trust people / they will support me,' or 'I will make my dreams come true.'
The right way of thinking invariably keeps you focused and fills your life with joy and results.
Take stock of your life right now! Be truthful to yourself and find out what controls your mind - the positive or the negative thinking?
If the answer is negative then it's time for action. Catch yourself being negative and enforce a corrective action for every thought and every word that you utter. It is as simple as that!
It is said that you become the average of the five people you hang around with, so avoid the company of winner and cynics and choose to be powerful, successful and happy people.
Your actions today will be determined what you will become tomorrow, so act positively. Stay focused on your goals work with passion and commitment to make them a reality. Expect challenge along the path and face them a with confidence. Do not get bogged down by temporary setbacks. Take responsibilities for what happens to you, no excuses, no blaming others for your failures. Keep fighting failure until you achieve success. Keep fighting negative thinking up till you convert it to positive! The game is on, are you ready?

3 Steps for Successful Resolutions

December 19, 2017 0

3 Steps for Successful Resolutions

Certain times of the year lend themselves to reviewing our lives, to taking time to look at where we've been, what we've achieved so far and where we want to go from here. Keeping life interesting and fulfilling can mean introducing some changes, which will often require planning in order that they be successfully implemented. Let's look at three steps for successful resolutions.

Resolution A's

- Achievable. For goals or changes to be actionable they need to be realistic. It's important that they stretch us enough so we keep on trying, but not be so daunting that we give up feeling exasperated, useless or completely deflated. Remember that a high-jumper only knows they've reached their limit when they fail, otherwise they keep on raising the bar. Make sure that you allow for training, coaching or support in areas where you're short of essential skills or knowledge.

- Application is about keeping on turning up. We have to regularly check in with our goals and maybe make a few sacrifices along the way. But it's also important to give ourselves rewards as encouragement and an acknowledgment of our efforts. Treat yourself to a relaxing bath or shower after a workout or training, enjoy a cosy night watching a film after an onerous piece of work. Reward yourself for the hard graft and determination you've displayed.

- Allow yourself to fail from time to time without beating yourself up. Be gentle with yourself. There's no need to be harsh if you slip up or don't immediately reach your target. Re-focus and start again, treating setbacks as minor events on the road to good results. We're all human and a mini-lapse doesn't need to signal the end of your aspirations.

Resolution B's

- Begin with the right mindset, but don't wait for all conditions to be perfect before you start. You don't need to wait for a new day, week or year - right now is as good a time as any. Set yourself some relevant tasks or actions every day. It may be to make a phone call, send an email, do 10 minutes exercise, cook a healthy meal. Find affirmations or phrases that keep you motivated and on track. You could say to yourself 'I am doing this', 'I am worth this', two examples of ways to talk positively to yourself and bolster your self-belief.

- Barriers to successful resolutions may typically be seen as having too little time, financial constraints, responsibilities like work, children, family or partners. Different factors may contrive to get in the way of you being free to pursue your goals but try to work around them. If now's not a good time to commit fully, why not break down your goals and identify the individual stepping-stones that will move you nearer, taking you in the right direction. Work on the one or two steps that you can accommodate right now.

- Blockages may well be an aspect of your own mindset, the negative self-talk that has perhaps accumulated over the years. Identify any stressors or situations that tend to trigger a negative response or divert you from your path. Then you can work to resolve those issues. Therapy can sometimes be useful when this happens, especially if it happens on a regular basis.

Resolution C's

- Check inside yourself to ensure that your goals are right for you, that they're yours and not someone else's. Do you really want to stop smoking, lose weight, get fitter, take your business to the next level? Doing things to please someone else can work for a time but is often difficult to sustain long-term or when the going gets tough.
- Commitment is sustained by belief and the desire to succeed. Setting mini-goals is often a great way to motivate you to maintain the effort. Then you can recognise each step as a positive result in its own right, leading you to the overall prize. Congratulate yourself at each milestone reached.

- Challenge yourself when you set goals and resolutions. It's best when your goals have a real resonance for you, when they stretch, motivate and inspire you, even on the tough or difficult days. That way you get to relish the sense of achievement every time you do well.

- Care for yourself well. When you're the most important person in your life others get the best of you too. When you look after yourself you're better equipped to support others. You're more positive, relaxed and less stressed. Yes, people and situations may need you to be there, to love and care for them, earn money, be supportive, but be sure to find a balance. Caring for yourself and your needs through supporting your goals and quality of life ensures that you're happier and healthier, emotionally, mentally and physically.

Then all that needs to happen is for you to set yourself some goals and resolutions. Why not start this positive process now!

Do You Believe Persistence Creates Success?

For centuries, people have chanted that the most persistent person wins the prize. In this article, I am going to challenge that belief. I assert that it is not persistence that makes the difference. It is the stripping away of beliefs that allows an individual to keep going. While I understand that people in the stands watching a sporting event have opinions about successful athletes. On the field, there is something happening that the fans cannot see. The same applies when people view what they call persistence.

To start, the human brain stores everything it hears, smells and sees in neuropaths. Those neuropaths possess your attitudes and belief systems. When you were born, you were told you could be anything you wanted. However, when you said you wanted to be CEO of a Fortune 500, you may have been told about being realistic. If you were black or Hispanic, you may have been warned that being CEO of a Fortune 500 is so rare for blacks and Hispanics that it's best to focus on being a doctor or lawyer. Many women may have been told the same. In addition, you were told that women and minorities have to work twice as hard as white males, especially if those males came from affluent families.
This kind of conversation creates cognitive dissonance. That refers to a situation involving conflicting attitudes, beliefs or behaviors. This produces a feeling of discomfort leading to an alteration in one of the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance. In other words, being told you can be anything you want, but CEO is unrealistic, creates internal conflict and tension. One path is to stay in the conflict and pursue your dreams. The other is to avoid the conflict and take your parents' advice.

While the cognitive dissonance may have initially started with your parent(s), you inherit the same conflicting thoughts your parents have. Since you trust your parents, you trust they know what they are talking about, even if you believe you can be the exception. (Depending on socioeconomic class, being a doctor or lawyer may appear to be unrealistic. Therefore, the child is told to focus on getting a lower paying job with benefits, for example. By the way, many children are discouraged when they want to be professional athletes.)
To go against your parents is to simultaneously go against conversations stored in your neuropaths. As you can see, this creates a quandary for the individual. As a result, a woman or minority could sabotage a great career because they spent time looking for evidence to prove they can't be CEO of a Fortune 500. They would seek evidence they have to work twice as hard. Even those two beliefs work against one another. Why?
While the job of CEO is extremely demanding, he or she must be able to delegate. If a woman or minority believes working twice as hard is what got them to the position of CEO, they may believe that is what they have to do to remain in that position. Eventually that person will become overwhelmed because they did not delegate effectively. An overwhelmed CEO could result in a poor performing company and eventually lose their job. There is a saying that the best CEOs work on their companies, not in them.
Furthermore, you may be so exhausted from working twice as hard that you may become disheartened to pursue a higher level of management. So working twice as hard can be a double-edged sword.
What does this have to do with persistence? If a woman or minority was told that being a CEO was unrealistic, they will have mental barriers that stop them from pursuing CEO. While those conversations may be stored in your brain, upon introspection, you will see those thoughts and beliefs are not your own. They are the beliefs of your parents, teachers, media, etc. Therefore, you are not obligated to adhere to them. As you strip away the inherited beliefs of others, you can make a clear path for new thoughts and beliefs. This time they will be the thoughts you choose for your life.

On the other hand, if you never inherited conflicting beliefs, you would have a clear mindset. That mindset would allow you to move through each phase of success in your life with power and alacrity. To the observer, you would look persistent. Contrary to the observer, you would have the advantages of seeing no barriers. The same possibility occurs for the person who strips away inherited barriers. With built in barriers, you spend time being in conflict with them or stripping them away. If you don't know how to strip them away, you are stuck. Without the barriers, you have freedom and open fields to do what ever you want.
